Many are still wondering what happened reflecting on the Y2K situation. Was it all just a big hoax? Did businesses and government combined spend $122 billion dollars for nothing? Apparently not. According to Jim at Cultivate Ministries the "Y2K has been called one of man's greatest challenges and achievements ever. Yes, there were some areas that did not get fixed in time. There are still a number of glitches in nuclear plants, etc.." Our main computer is still not counting the days correctly, but the programs are functioning. We only lost three computers through this process, but thanks to God the ministry was not disrupted. We had to make spontaneous bold decisions believe me. Praise God for giving us courage to keep moving. We were troubled by the way many handled the fact that ministries didn't know what they were doing when they got involved in the Y2K issue. We heard comments that people should not look at these types of ministries from that point forward. It is hard to believe that we are told that we as Christians should not care about other Christians. We attended the White House meetings by way of C-span and to say that the whole thing was hype is ludicrous. We are in ministry because we care and if there is trouble down the road, we are certainly called upon to warn of danger ahead.

Looking at the history, the bug prophecy hit the public airways in 1996 although it was known in the late 1980s that there was a problem in the wings. In 1987 Noah Hutchings of the Southwest Radio Broadcast first made it public. Gradually it was broadcast by Christian radio stations which motivated a Mormon Senator to form a committee in Washington D.C.. They put "their shoulders to wheel" as Mormons like to sing, and really got involved with the business sector, They put time constraints on business people and pleaded with them to get the job done. This didn't really begin until 1998. Millions were spent on research and billions poured into fixing systems. I worked for the government through 1992 for Workmen's Compensation and they installed a whole new computer system custom programmed from scratch in 1992. They did not tell us why it was necessary. Overall it was a race against time. The Media reported by multiple sources that this Y2K challenge was one of the greatest challenges and achievement of mankind ever. The fact that watchmen ministries were partially responsible for getting the word out was never mentioned. Behind this was God of course whom we serve. He is our motivator and guides our steps. But few remember Him and give Him the glory for getting us through the New Year so beautifully.

Gratefully we thanked our Heavenly Father for raising our awareness to the many blessings He bestows on us day by day. Included is the evidence that the President did not know what to expect. He is in charge of our physical well-being according to the Gospel.

For Immediate Release June 14, 1999 EXECUTIVE ORDER - - - - - - - AMENDMENT TO EXECUTIVE ORDER 13073, YEAR 2000 CONVERSION By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in order to create the Information Coordination Center to assist the Chair of the President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion in addressing year 2000 conversion problems both domestically and internationally, it is hereby ordered that Executive Order 13073 is amended as follows: Section 1. A new section 5 is added to the order and shall read "Sec. 5. Information Coordination Center. (a) To assist the Chair in the Y2K response duties included under section 2(c) of this order, there shall be established the Information Coordination Center (ICC) in the General Services Administration. (b) At the direction of the Chair, the ICC will assist in making preparations for information sharing and coordination within the Federal Government and key components of the public and private sectors, coordinating agency assessments of Y2K emergencies that could have an adverse affect on U.S. interests at home and abroad, and, if necessary, assisting Federal agencies and the Chair in reconstitution processes where appropriate. (c) The ICC will: (1) consist of officials from executive agencies, designated by agency heads under subsection 3(a)(2) of this order, who have expertise in important management and technical areas, computer hardware, software or security systems, reconstitution and recovery, and of additional personnel hired directly or by contract, as required, to carry out the duties described under section 5 of this order; (2) work with the Council and the Office of Management and Budget to assure that Federal efforts to restore critical systems are coordinated with efforts managed by Federal agencies acting under existing emergency response authorities." (d) The Chair of the President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion shall designate a Director of the ICC. Sec. 2. The preexisting section 5 of Executive Order 13073 shall be renumbered as section 6.
